The deadline for paying the wealth tax for 2023 is December 26. Late payments are subject to a penalty of 0.0740% of the unpaid tax amount for each day of delay, IPN reports.
The wealth tax is applied on residential real estate, such as apartments and isolated residential rooms in multistorey buildings, apartments in individual houses, individual houses in urban and rural localities, holiday cottages, except for lots, which cumulatively meet the following conditions: the total estimated value is 2 million lei and more, and the total area is 120 square meters and more.
The State Tax Service said that it sent the corresponding payment notices to taxpayers who have the obligation to pay the wealth tax. If the taxpayers haven’t received such a notice, they should go to the local Tax Service.
Electronic signature holders can generate 2023 wealth tax payment notices independently, through the service “View tax based on real estate file”, which is available on the website of the State Tax Service.
So, the wealth tax can also be paid online, through the government e-payment gateway Mpay, by accessing the “Wealth Tax” service.
The deadline for paying the wealth tax is December 25 of the reporting year. As December 25 is a day off, the deadline is considered December 26.
