The deadline for granting temporary protection to displaced persons from Ukraine will be extended for another year, until March 1, 2025. The identity document of the beneficiary of temporary protection will also be automatically extended. The decision was taken on Wednesday by the Cabinet to provide stability and security to the Ukrainians who have taken refuge in Moldova, IPN reports.

The persons under temporary protection have the right to work on the territory of the Republic of Moldova without needing to obtain a temporary residence permit for the purpose of working, provided that they register with the local subdivision of the National Employment Agency within whose radius they reside.

The application for temporary protection can be submitted until March 1, 2024 by those who are in the country and also by persons who will arrive in the Republic of Moldova after this date, until March 1, 2025.

Currently, there are over 116,000 displaced persons from Ukraine on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. Almost 39,000 of them were pre-registered for temporary protection, while over 30,000 people already obtained identity documents.
