Day of Young voter to be organized at national scale

During November 6-10, 2006, the Day of Young Voter will be organized at national scale in Moldova. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) approved on Wednesday, October 4, a decision in this respect. According to Renata Lapti, deputy chairman of CEC, these actions will have a non-political character. The event aims at increasing the involvement of young persons in elections. During 45-60 minutes, the young persons will be informed by MPs, local councilors about democracy, elections, necessity of participating in the electoral process etc. The lessons will be organized for the students of the superior forms, as well as for students. According to the cited source, the electoral authority has already received solicitation from several MPs to participate in this action. For the first time, CEC organized similar actions on May 22-25, 2006 in 105 pre-higher education institutions in Chisinau.
