The date of presidential elections is expected to be fixed in the March 7 sitting of Parliament. A draft decision to this effect was included in the agenda, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“I think that tomorrow we will set the date of the presidential elections. We will give details when time comes. Until then we will look for solutions so that the head of state is elected,” the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat told the reporters. He added that it is important to elect the President, but maintaining a good atmosphere inside the alliance is as important.
The head of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said they have a constructive dialogue. “I’m hopeful that this dialog will keep its constructive character till the end so that we manage to adopt the decision on the election date in Parliament tomorrow,” he stated.
The Liberal Party’s deputy head Ion Hadarca said the alliance is examining several candidates for the presidency and the Liberals may vote for fixing the date of the presidential elections on March 7.
