The Youth Media Center and the Dancing Club “Black&White” staged a dancing masterclass for young people with disabilities in Europe Square in Chisinau on September 13.

The event brought together disabled young people from Chisinau and other settlements of the county. They learned to dance to the rhythms of pop, Latin and hip-hop music. “We want to attract as many children and young people as they will further transmit the social inclusion message,” head of the Youth Media Center Veronica Chicu-Boboc has told IPN.

“We are “Black&White” and we came here to help the disabled young people and to show to them that we are all equal and that we can dance together,” stated troupe member Ionela Tarus.

Eugen, a young man in a wheelchair, said that he liked the event. He believes that such activities can improve the people’s attitude to the persons with disabilities. “There are different people. There are people who do not respect us at all,” he stated.

Dancing masterclasses will be also held in districts, in partnership with the public association PRIMA of Taraclia, the public association “Woman and child – protection and support” of Criuleni, the public association “Dorinta” of Calarasi, the public association  “Azi” of Cahul, and the Association for Supporting Children with Physical Disabilities of Peresecina.

On September 20, there will be staged a flashmob meeting in Cahul. “It’s not enough to transmit a message only. We must make the authorities to ensure access, provide ramps and formulate social inclusion policies,” said Veronica Chicu-Boboc.

The event forms part of the campaign “SUCCESS from chess to success” that was launched by the Youth Media Center in partnership with SOIR Moldova on September 5.
