Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun announced that 40 million lei has been allocated for the extension of creche groups in 15 kindergartens in the Republic of Moldova. According to him, this investment will lead to the creation of about 500-600 new places in nurseries, IPN reports.
"These are foreign resources that we mobilized and put to good use. This should create at least 500-600 additional places next year for those who want to access public nurseries," Minister Perciun said in the program "At 360 degrees" on Radio Moldova station.
The official also said that out of the €1.9 billion allocated by the European Union for the Republic of Moldova, €40 million is intended for preschool infrastructure. These funds will contribute to the development and modernization of the early childhood education system.
The minister noted that the opening of kindergartens/creches is within the responsibility of the local public authorities.
"We come with additional investments on the part of the Government, foreign partners. But it is important that the mayor’s offices, which are the founders of kindergartens, make greater efforts to provide creche groups," said Dan Perciun.
