The cyclists are invited to a race designed to encourage bicycle riding that will take place in Chisinau on September 20. The “VeloHora” race will be about 20 km long and will cover Centru, Botanica, Rascani and Sculeni districts, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Danil Balaban, marketing manager at “Rusnac – MoldAqua”, the company that organized the event, said that the race is held before the World Carfree Day in order to promote a healthy lifestyle.
“We want to revive the sports traditions and contribute to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and the protection of the environment. Together we will prove that bicycle riding is a solution in the towns with heavy traffic. We ask the people not to use their cars during at least one day,” Danil Balaban said at a news conference on Wednesday.
Alexandr Berdicevschi, developer of the portal extreme.md, said that he backs this idea and will prepare a cycling show involving skaters and riders from Russia, Ukraine and Moldova for the final. There will be installed a Skate Park brought from Ukraine.
“The participating cyclists would be able to show their skills alongside professionals,” Alexandr Berdicevschi added.
Every racer will receive by a T-shirt with the cycling race’s logo and by a ticket that will participate in a draw for three bicycles Giant. The race will start in the Great National Assembly Square at 12.00 and will last for two hours. The even is sponsored by the National Cycling Federation, with DaacVeloSport involved as partner.
