Increase people’s trust in the Customs Service, provide prompt and clear information to citizens and foster ties with the mass media. These are the main goals of the new communication strategy of the Customs Service, developed with the support of the European Union, through the EU High Level Advisors project.

The new strategy was presented Tuesday during a press conference. The document was developed with the aim of establishing a clear framework for interaction both internally and externally, but also to identify the right channels and tools for communication.

At the launch event, Customs Service director Igor Talmazan emphasized the role of communication for the customs authority. “During this difficult period, it is important to have as much communication as possible to identify the problems facing society, to inform the prompt decisions we take, which are meant to unlock some crisis situations. The Customs Service is the entity that has a direct involvement in economic relations, as through the Customs Service the economic security of the state is ensured and conditions are created for facilitating trade”, stated Igor Talmazan.

For his part, Vasile Plămădeala, advisor on trade matters at the EU Delegation to Moldova, mentioned the stable partnership enjoyed by the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, based on the Association Agreement, thanks to which the EU has become the main trade partner of our country.

“Prompt, open communication of the customs authority is essential in facilitating trade, and the EU over time has supported efforts to modernize the institution,” said the representative of the EU Delegation.

The communication strategy has been developed thanks to the EUHLA Project to support the organizational development of the Customs Service. Materials of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) were used in creating it.
