The pilgrims walking the March of the Cross (Drumul Crucii) have reached Friday the town of Tiraspol, leaving behind 60 kilometers of their 1,906 kilometer-long journey. The March, which started in the southern town of Stefan-Voda on August 5, is the longest of those organized by the Metropolitan Church of Moldova. Some 90 pilgrims embarked on “a march of penitence and prayer for the unity and prosperity of the country”, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Church said. The pilgrims are stopping at intervals of 2 to 3 hours to say the Prayer of the Holy Cross. The March is scheduled to end in Chisinau on the feast of the Protection of the Mother of God on October 14.
