Cross-border cooperation and border security between Moldova and Ukraine will be discussed on Monday, May 29 within the joint Moldovan-Ukrainian commission. The delegation of the Republic of Moldova will be headed by the prime-minister Vasile Tarlev. According to a press-release, the Moldovan part will propose debating the problem regarding the border cross-over for the citizens of the cross-border localities, delimiting the frontier, implementing the agreement on border crossing of 50 kg of agriculture goods without paying the tax and filling the customs declaration. As well, the problem regarding promoting goods on foreign markets by ensuring the functioning of the transport’s “green passage” will be discussed. At the same time, aspects regarding the mutual acknowledgement of the property rights of the both countries’ territories, joint projects in the energetic field will be discussed. Especially, the Moldovan side pleads in favor of the urgent construction works of the 330KV Balti-Novodnestrovsk power line, fact that would contribute to the energetic security not only of Moldova but of the region as a whole. In 2005, the volume of the commercial trade between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine constituted 591 million USD.
