The results of the parliamentary elections, which will take place this year in Moldova, will decide whether or not there will be continuity of the reform agenda in the European path of the Republic of Moldova, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gerasimov stated in Brussels. According to Gerasimov, political will is needed at the domestic level if we want support from foreign partners.
"If there is political will to continue with the same reforms, with the same country roadmap, then we can also count on the openness of the European institutions, of the EU member states. But if we hesitate at home, we cannot talk about reciprocity similar to the one seen today on the part of Brussels," said the official.
The Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration also referred to the dynamics of global politics, which are constantly changing and which can, in fact, influence the course of the Republic of Moldova.
"We never have the certainty or any guarantee that the Republic of Moldova will join the EU in a certain year. At the same time, it is certain that the enlargement of the European Union is a priority on the agenda of the European Commission, and we are among the first states on this list, which demonstrate the will and capacity to implement reforms," pointed out Cristina Gerasimov.
