The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Ozerov, claims that the situation in the Transnistrian region is not a political crisis nor an attempt at destabilization but rather an immense humanitarian crisis that needs to be resolved as quickly as possible. The statements were made during a meeting with the leader of the Tiraspol administration, Vadim Krasnoselski, who complained about discriminatory actions by Chisinau and the severe humanitarian consequences caused by the energy crisis, IPN reports.

Oleg Ozerov stated that he visited the left bank of the Nistru River to assess the situation on the ground and to understand the region's problems and energy situation. He emphasized that his visit aimed to reaffirm the Russian Federation's stance on resolving the humanitarian crisis as swiftly as possible.

The ambassador also noted that Russia has taken all necessary measures to assist the region's population.

Vadim Krasnoselski reiterated accusations against Chisinau authorities, claiming they are obstructing the delivery of Russian gas to the region, despite assurances from President Maia Sandu that the pipeline for Russian gas destined for Transnistria remains open.

Krasnoselski also rejected claims that the Kremlin has instigated the crisis in the region or is working to escalate it, stating that such assertions do not align with reality.

The Presidency of the Republic of Moldova clarified that it does not oppose and has never opposed the delivery of gas to the left bank of the Nistru, provided that legal conditions are met. On the contrary, Chisinau authorities have offered and continue to provide all possible means to ensure this can happen as quickly as possible.
