Electricity consumption for the territory on the right bank of the Dniester River is fully covered for January 15 and no blackout contracts will be activated, the Government Crisis Cell reports. The volume of electricity needed was estimated at the same level as on January 14, but up by 20% compared to the rest days at the end of last week, IPN reports.

Electricity consumption is covered from domestic sources, such as the district heating power plants in Chisinau and Balti, the Costești hydroelectric power plant, renewable sources, imports under bilateral contracts with suppliers/producers in Romania and Ukraine and purchases on the stock exchange.

On January 14, the energy sources used for the right bank were as follows:

According to the crisis unit, peak consumption was between 18:00 and 20:00, with a maximum consumption of 933 MW. Consumers are urged to save electricity during the peak hours of 07:00-11:00 and 18:00-23:00, both to have lower bills and to ensure the reliability of the power system.

In the thermal energy sector, on the right bank, all generation sources are in operation and there are no risks. Also in the natural gas sector, the pressures in all segments of the transportation system, managed by "Vestmoldtransgaz" LLC, are within the functional parameters.

The cited source notes that on the left bank of the Dniester, since January 10, there have been scheduled power cuts throughout the region, lasting five hours, once a day. More than 86.13% of the electricity for the left bank is produced by MGRES/Cuciurgan power plant. The Dubasari hydropower plant provides 10.49%, and 3.38% of the available electricity comes from the technological flow.
