Representatives of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) said they filed a criminal complaint against those who took an illegal decision concerning the polling stations outside the country and in the Transnistria region. They announced they will mount a protest “against corruption in justice” at the Appeals Court on July 1, IPN reports.

In a press briefing, the party’s leader Andrei Năstase reminded that on June 29 PPPDA obtained a new victory in court as the Constitutional Court declared the opening of polling stations on a territory that is not controlled by the lawful authorities unconstitutional and ruled that the passing of a period of 35 days does not free the Central Election Commission from the obligation to establish polling stations in the diaspora.

The Court passed a judgment by which two important aspects valid for the current and the future elections were clarified – that the establishment of polling stations on a territory that is not controlled effectively by the Moldovan authorities is illegal and unconstitutional and that the period of 35 days for organizing polling places was set for ensuring the predictability of polls so that the voters could organize the exercise of the electoral right.

PPPDA continues to demand that the Republic of Moldova, by its responsible institutions – the CEC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – should establish a sufficient number of polling stations abroad so that the people do not have to stay in interminable lines at polling stations that are often hundreds and thousands of kilometers away from them.

Andrei Năstase called on the Moldovans to vote in a large number in the upcoming elections and to persuade those from home and those from the diaspora to also vote.

MP Dinu Plîngău noted that the PPPDA struggled for each polling station and notified the investigation bodies of the committed illegalities. The party will continue its actions so as to make sure that the law and the constitutional right to vote of all the Moldovans are obeyed.
