The farmers who came to protest in the capital city with their tractors didn’t obey the provisions of the preliminary statement they submitted. Some of them committed road traffic violations and will be fined for this. However, a criminal case was started as a result of the altercations caused on Șoseaua Hâncești St and of the insulting of police officers, stated the head of the General Police Inspectorate Viorel Cernăuțeanu.
He told a news conference that according to the preliminary statement submitted by the organizers, the participants in the protest were to travel to the outskirts of the municipality of Chisinau on November 22 and to place their tractors there. On November 23, the famers were to travel to the center of Chisinau and to place their tractors in the Great National Assembly Square.
Viorel Cernăuțeanu noted that they banked on the responsibility of organizers. But it was ascertained that the organizers and a part of the participants neglected the own preliminary statement. The police will further ensure the demonstration is held in a proper way. The protesters and the protest organizers must yet obey the legal provisions and the preliminary statement. Road traffic safety is in danger when uncoordinated and even unwise actions are taken, like the blocking of traffic or the creation of situations of accident.
There were also documented other contraventions. Penalties will be imposed on the organizers for the non-observance of the preliminary statement. A criminal case was started over inciting to aggressive actions, noted the head of the General Police Inspectorate.
Farmers from a number of districts on Wednesday set off for Chisinau and in the afternoon continued their trip to the central square of the capital city. On the way, they caused traffic jams. The police urged them to unblock the streets so that the public and private transport could pass. At a certain moment, a group of farmers started to behave aggressively and caused altercations. The farmers tried to destroy a police car and insulted police officers.
