The Resource Center for Human Rights (CReDO) has launched an online test to assess the conformity of the candidates for President and parties that support these with the European integration policies. The test is available at www.euacum.md. It contains 12 questions with response options. The answers will show how the candidates embrace the European values and policies and the provisions of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.

In a news conference at IPN, CReDO director Sergiu Ostaf said the parties and candidates have one week to answer the questions that are formulated from the perspective of the people. There are also proposed the measures required when doing reforms to ensure the observance of the rights stipulated in the Association Agreement. The least European candidate does not sign for any of the measures.

“By these measures, we force each candidate for President to think about the people from this perspective and to sign for these measures. We presume that there will be candidates who will sign for none of these measures or for some of them. It will be interesting to know their options and their explanation why they chose them. The test can be also filled out anonymously by people because this way they can state their opinion on the important reform processes and afterward we will make a comparison of what the people think about the given rights and what the candidates for President should do,” stated Sergiu Ostaf.

The CReDO director said such a comparison will provide very useful information, based on arguments as regards the actions that the candidates must take, especially those that support the European integration process. “We hope we can also structure the thinking of the candidates, in accordance with the interests and rights of the people. Based on the obtained answers, we will be able to obtain a profile of voters based on their options, and of the candidates as well. We will be able to say that candidate X is the most pro-European because 80 or 90% of his/her answers coincide with the European options,” explained Sergiu Ostaf.

The results will be summed up in a week, possibly on September 27.

The CReDO director also presented the preliminary results of the information campaign centering on the benefits of European integration that was initiated on August 16. So far, about 3,000 people signed the petition on entry into the European Union.
