COVID-19: Nationwide red alert

The authorities declared a red alert at national level in connection with the epidemiological situated related to COVID-19, given the confirmed danger of a public health emergency, IPN reports.

According to the action plan approved by the National Extraordinary Commission for Public Health, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Finance will close a number of state border crossing points on the Moldovan-Romanian and Moldova-Ukrainian borders. The Ministry of Economy will stop the international road passenger transportation by regular and occasional routes and railway transport to and from Moldova.

At midnight on March 15, there will be suspended the regular flights to and from Italy, Spain and France, while at midnight on March 16, the flights to and from Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Germany, Ireland, the UK, Poland, Portugal, and Romania.

The air operators are banned from transporting passengers who come to Moldova with stopovers from Italy, Spain, France, Germany, China, Iran, and South Korea. They are also banned from carrying persons of other nationalities than the Moldovan one to Moldova, except for stateless persons and foreigners with residence, domicile or with permit of stay in Moldova.

The decision is valid until March 31, but could be extended.

The local public authorities, the managers of recreational places, gyms, sports centers, swimming pools, fitness halts, cinemas and others are to stop the organized activities until April 1.

The managers and owners of passenger transportation companies (buses, trolleybuses, minibuses, taxies and other urban and interurban passenger transportation units), regardless of the form of ownerships, are to ensure the cleaning and disinfection of the motor vehicles after each route.

Participation in religious meetings for all the religious denominations existing in Moldova is banned until March 31.
