The coronavirus disease named officially COVID-19 claimed 54,194 lives worldwide by April 3. Italy reported the largest number of casualties – 13,915, IPN reports.
More than 200 counties were stricken by the novel coronavirus and the number of confirmed infections exceeded 1 million.
Most of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in the U.S. – over 245,000, with more than 6,000 deaths, Spain – nearly 117,000, with almost 11,000 deaths, China – about 81,000 cases, with 3,322 deaths.
In France, the virus caused 5,387 deaths, in Germany – 1,111, in Romania – 116, in Ukraine – 23.
Russia reported over 4,000 cases of infection and 34 deaths associated with the novel coronavirus.
Moldova has got 505 infections with COVID-19 so far. Six of the infected persons died, while 26 have been cured.
