The Ciocana branch of the Chisinau City Court rejected as groundless the complaint filed by Veaceslav Platon against the ordinance of April 6, 2021 by which Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo annulled the orders to transfer “Casa Modei” (“Fashion House”) and the former ASITO Building under the ownership of Platon, IPN reports.

Businessman Vladimir Russu’s lawyer Sergiu Istrate, after the hearing held on May 5, said the lawyers for Veaceslav Platon asked that the hearing should be put off, but the request was rejected.

“I want to note again that the lawyers for Platon asked to postpone the hearing for the reason that one of them did the test for COVID-19 and sent the result of the test by email to court. But the test does not say if it is positive or negative and this is strange when a test for COVID-19 is done. The second lawyer informed by an application that he had been in contact with the first lawyer and, respectively, he has suspicions about his state of health. The court considered that these arguments are unfounded,” said the lawyer, noting that the documents presented for putting off the hearing were rejected by the judge as inappropriate.

Veaceslav Platon asked to annul the order of the prosecutor general who three weeks ago ascertained serious violations in the documents signed by his inferiors and asked that the court decisions of last December by which Veaceslav Platon was allowed to come into possession of the two buildings should be quashed. The first hearing was put off because the lawyer for Platon invoked his contact with a person infected with COVID-19. The second hearing was postponed after the lawyer asked the prosecutor to furnish the court with materials confirming the legality of the prosecutor general’s order.
