Members of the Ecologist Green Party of Moldova (PVE) consider the correct path for the Republic of Moldova is the path to the European Union. The party announced that it will take part in the European Moldova Assembly that was programmed by President Maia Sandu for May 21. “By taking part in the assembly, we will say our YES to the course to the EU,” the chairman of the Ecologist Green Party Anatolie Prohnitski stated in a news conference hosted by IPN. He urged the people to come to the event that will take place in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau this Sunday.

Over the past 30 years, Moldova has been undecided where to go and who to associate with. The fact that no choice has been made until now is also the blame of the populist parties that made promises, but didn’t fulfill them. A part of the citizens were caught into the toils of these parties and they voted for them, said Anatolie Prohnitski.

The chairman of the Ecologist Green Party believes that Moldova’s presence in the Commonwealth of Independent States, where the Russian Federation decides things and not always in a humane way, is no longer justified. For its part, the European Union supported Moldova. The citizens should choose the correct development path and should decide who to establish partnerships with. On May 21, everyone is expected to come to the European Moldova Assembly rally in the center of Chisinau to support the European choice.

Natalia Yatsko, PVE deputy chairwoman, noted that the states that joined or are to join the EU renounce a part of their national sovereignty in exchange for economic advantages, political stability and security. These are things needed by the Republic of Moldova. A lot of work during many years is to be done for Moldova to integrate into the EU. Changes to the legislation must be made. The observance of the human human rights and freedoms needs to be ensured.

Mayor of Bălăurești Alexandru Ionel, PVE deputy chairman, said the local public authorities already get ready for the integration into the EU. They organize working visits for experience exchange so that when Moldova joins the European family, they know what should be done for the provided financial resources to be absorbed swiftly and in a proper way.
