Corneliu Groza tendered his resignation from the post of head of the Border Police. The information was confirmed for IPN by the institution’s spokeswoman Raisa Novitski.
According to Raisa Novitski, the resignation was handed over last weekend. It is expected that this will be signed today or the next few days. Corneliu Groza invoked personal and health reasons in his letter.
The person who will hold the post on an interim basis is not yet known. This could be the deputy chief of the General Border Police Inspectorate Valentin Fiodorov, stated Raisa Novitski.
Adviser to the minister of home affairs Alina Zbancă said the resignation is being examined by minister Pavel Voicu. ”It should be noted that Mister Groza is a manager with a rich experience and, if he decides to remain in the system, this possibility will be considered,” stated Alina Zbancă.
Corneliu Groza was named head of the Border Police for a five-year term by a Government Decision of 2019, instead of Rosian Vasiloi.
