The period during which consumers can signal problems with their products was extended from six months to a year. This refers to situations when the product does not meet the expectations, but are not strictly related to the state of compliance. This is stipulated in a bill to amend the law on consumer protection, IPN reports.

The bill institutes an alternative mechanism for resolving disputes related to consumer protection. This way, to defend their rights and interests, the consumers can go to the inspection bodies in the field of consumer protection or to an alternative dispute resolution institution.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization said that by this mechanism, much shorter, high-quality out of court procedures that will cost less than court procedures or will be free will be ensured.

The commercial guarantee will be defined as “any commitment on the part of the seller or producer to the consumer to refund the paid price or to replace, repair or maintain goods in any way when these do not meet the specifications or any other requirement that is not related to compliance.”

The authorities also aim to combat incorrect practices that cause damage to consumers, such as false reviews or ad frauds in social media.
