Consumer Rights Day. Over 1,400 petitions in 2024

World Consumer Rights Day is marked annually on March 15. In 2024, consumers in Moldova submitted 1,412 petitions to the responsible authorities, up from the previous years, IPN reports.

"Consumers write more and more petitions, which means that they know their rights and started to trust the authorities," explained representatives of the State Inspectorate for the Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection.

Over the past year, 9,966 consumers and 1,416 economic agents were offered consultancy, the Inspectorate's report shows.

To mark this day and to promote consumer rights, the Inspectorate on March 14 held a conference titled "Transition to a sustainable lifestyle". The participants in the event emphasized the need to adopt responsible consumption practices and a sustainable economy.

Consumers in Moldova are urged to contact the Call Center on 022 515 151 in order to be helped and directed to the responsible institutions.

World Consumer Rights Day was instituted in 1985 by the United Nations, with the aim of drawing attention to the importance of knowing and respecting consumer rights.
