Consumer prices fell 3.4% in eight months to August

The consumer prices in Moldova have decreased by 3.4% since the start of this year. The prices of food products went down by 3.1%, while of the services – by 0.1%. At the same time, the nonfood products rose in price, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the National Bureau of Statistics. The 1.1% decrease in the average consumer prices in August was determined by the 3.1% reduction in the prices of food products and the 0.1% decrease in the prices of nonfood products and services. The prices of grapes, watermelons, fresh fruit and vegetables, dietetic eggs and vegetal oil decreased from July. Sugar grew cheaper by 1.3%, while mutton – by 7.6%. Among nonfood products, price rises were recorded at the bottled liquified petroleum gas, fuel, the school supplies, stationery, sanitary and hygiene objects, drugs and clothes for children. At the same time, the prices of coal, information processing equipment, spare parts and accessories for cars, clothes, footwear, domestic appliances, furniture went down. The ritual services grew dearer by 3.0%, the international railway and taxi services – by about 1.7%. The prices of most of the products and services remained at the same level as in July.
