Representatives of a number of extra-parliamentary parties came to the Presidential Palace to participate in the consultations announced by President Maia Sandu. They are to discuss the fight against political corruption, IPN reports.

The chairman of the European Social Democratic Party Ion Sula told journalists that his party respects the state institutions, which is why he accepted the invitation. "The subject under discussion is corruption in the electoral sector. Of course, there is a lot to discuss on this subject, especially after the last presidential election, and here I would also refer to the local elections," noted the politician.

"The presidential election showed that there is a need for meticulous preparation, for unity on the pro-European right ahead of the parliamentary elections. I think this will be, in principle, the most discussed topic today," said the leader of the Moldovan National Party Dragos Galbur.

Ruslan Codreanu, leader of the People Power Political, said that the topics announced by President Maia Sandu refer to the fight against political corruption and the justice sector reform. "We must note that in recent years everything related to the financing of political parties has been over-regulated because those who stole continue to steal and the small ones have to fight with the CEC, with courts to prove that they exist due to donations, volunteering and no one stands behind us," said Ruslan Codreanu.

Although he came to the Presidential Palace, Vasile Costiuc, of the Democracy at Home Party, told journalists that he does not participate in the consultations. "Today we were invited to discuss political corruption. What kind of political corruption can you discuss with extra-parliamentary parties? Especially since some of them are really corrupt. We have come to say that we condemn the political corruption instituted by the pro-Russian parties, financed by the Russian Federation. But, at the same time, we want to note that political corruption has reached a level that the Republic of Moldova has not witnessed during 30 years. Who is to blame? Where are the state institutions? Doesn't anyone want to resign?", said Vasile Costiuc.

Members of "Together" Bloc, which includes three parties - the Dignity and Truth Platform, the League of Cities and Communes, and the Party of Change - also came to the Presidential Palace.

A week ago, after the meeting of the Supreme Security Council, President Sandu announced consultations with party representatives to discuss the actions that need to be taken in the fight against political corruption.
