After the representatives of a civic group urged him to run for office of President of the Republic of Moldova, ex-MP and ex-deputy prime minister Constantin Oboroc provided a response. More exactly, Constantin Oboroc, who served as an adviser to Moldova’s first President, said the current situation is difficult, but there are solutions and he is ready to come up with them as an independent candidate for President.

In a news conference at IPN, Constantin Oboroc said now the people realize what is going on in the country, namely the difficult situation that was reached. He is ready to provide solutions given his rich experience. “I want to tell you confidently that solutions to overcome the current situation exist. That’s why I gave my consent and will run for President of the republic independently,” stated the former deputy prime minister.

He noted he will run not for winning office and for fulfilling the rather honorific duties of the President that has not many instruments to directly influence the life of citizens, but for initiating concrete actions. “Exact and concrete actions so that we stand up and feel humans and do not feel like sold, bought, betrayed, deceived lambs,” said Constantin Oboroc.

“In the situation in which our President announces the price of selling and buying an MP and an MP enters Parliament under one political color, but leaves this with the colors of the rainbow, we should not be surprised at what the people say about this.”

According to Constantin Oboroc, the Republic of Moldova discredited itself all over the world. The authors of the banking fraud haven’t been yet identified. The money wasn’t recovered and it is not known how that fraud was possible. The one who holds the post of President should provide responses to these questions. He doesn’t do this. Instead, he has meetings with oligarchs in bars and restaurants to receive bags with money.

Constantin Oboroc noted the upcoming presidential elections are a chance for turning a new page in the country’s history by a massive, conscious and powerful vote so as to establish authentic democracy in the state.

Recently, a civic group called on Constantin Oboroc to field himself for President and to file the required documents to the Central Election Commission. According to this, a nonparty candidate who would represent the right and the center should run for office.
