Congress of “Ours” Party: We plead for more official languages and banning of unionist parties

The constitution congress of the Party “Ours” was held in front of the Parliament Building on June 12. The leader of the new party Mihail Ahremtsev said they will promote more official languages, strategic relations with Russia, studying of the history of Moldova and a bill to ban unionist parties, IPN reports.

Mihail Ahremtsev said the party is a conservative one and will focus on 12 principles. It will promote the independence of the Republic of Moldova and will insist that the strategic enterprises of the Republic of Moldova, including the Giurgiulești Free International Port, are managed by the state. They plead for fighting

 corruption and for making the penalties hasher. Special attention will be devoted to ATU Gagauzia and the Transnistrian region. They are for the peaceful reintegration of the Republic of Moldova.

According to Mihail Ahremtsev, the pubic functionaries should not have dual nationality. May 9 is the Victory Day and other holidays can be celebrated on other days of the year. The investments coming from the EU and the U.S. go to do reforms, but the people do not feel these changes. The foreign funds should be allocated to increase salaries and pensions.

Anastasia Leashchenko, a member of the initiative group for creating the party, noted the parties that promote unionism influence the country’s sovereignty and hamper the country’s development. The Party “Ours” is against public associations whose goal is to destroy the country’s integrity. They will propose a bill to punish those who will undermine Moldova’s integrity and will suggest banning the parties that promote unionism, extremism, separatism, radicalism, Chauvinism.    


Party member Anastasia Ahremtseva said they will insist on opening Russian teaching classes in all the education institutions and Russian language groups in kindergartens. The party will plead for the introduction of punishment for discrimination based on the ethnic origin or spoken language, given the discrimination of the Russian speakers.

Vadim Barinov from Bender said the inhabitants of the Transnistrian region should be able to easier obtain the Moldovan nationality and they should be represented in Parliament in Chisinau.

At the end, Mihail Ahremtsev noted that the party cannot compete in the snap parliamentary elections of July 11, but they are confident that time will come and they will enter Parliament. During the next few days, the Party “Ours” will submit the documents to the Ministry of Justice and the Public Services Agency for being registered.

The intention to create a new party on Moldova’s political arena was announced last October.
