The municipality of Comrat, the capital of the autonomous territorial unit of Gagauzia of the Republic of Moldova, marks 235 years since its founding. On the occasion of the City’s Day, the inhabitants and guests of the municipality are invited tonight to a great concert that will culminate with a recital by the Romanian band Akcent, whose participation is supported by the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova of the Government of Romania. The band will perform starting at 10:20 p.m., IPN reports.
According to the Comrat City Hall, the City’s Day is marked for three days, from 16 to 18 August. On Friday, the couples who celebrated 50 and 55 years of marriage were honored. A concert held by artistic bands from the city will be given in front of the House of Culture in the evening.
Today’s program begins with a divine service held at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Comrat. At 10:00 a.m., an entertaining program for children, but also craft fairs and exhibitions with sales will be staged. At 01:00 p.m., local ensembles will perform in the central park of the city. At 06:00 p.m., concert by local and international artists will be given in the Square in central Comrat. At 10:20 p.m., the band Akcent from Romania will take the stage. The evening will end with a fireworks show.
On the last day of the holiday, Sunday, the program of events will start with a children’s puppet show titled “The Ugly Duckling” at the Comrat House of Culture, at 11:00 a.m. At 01:00 p.m., the Republican Festival of Ethnicities “Unity through Diversity” will take place downtown. At 06:00 p.m., the “Star without a Name” show will be staged at the House of Culture, and at 08:30 p.m., the “Komrat-fest” will start in the city center, with a biker parade and a fire show.
