The national staff of the Communist Party (PCRM) Saturday came together for a meeting to announce the launch of the nationwide campaign for the June 5 local elections. “It’s a pleasure for me to address the party’s candidates running in these very important elections. The fact that we open the campaign before Low Sunday and May 1 is significant,” said Communist MP Igor Dodon, who runs for the mayoralty of Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Igor Dodon stated the PCRM must prove that it has been and will remain the most powerful political force. In Chisinau, the PCRM’s team opened the election campaign on Holy Thursday, while at national level before May 1. This shows that the PCRM does not stop working, said Igor Dodon.
According to the candidate, it is a month and a half before the local elections and this period will be tough. “In 2001, we took the country out of the darkness, while in 2011 the people expect the same from us,” said Igor Dodon.
Petru Burlacu, the PCRM’s candidate for the post of mayor of Cahul town, said the Republic of Moldova became the victim of political vandals who brought political, economic and social instability in the country. “The fate of our state is in the hands of irresponsible persons,” said Petru Burlacu, adding that only the PCRM is can help overcome the crisis situation.
The meeting of the national staff brought together candidates for mayor and municipal and district councilors, and Communist MPs.
