Anenii Noi district councilors representing the Eurointegration Alliance are preparing to “illegally” sack Communist Vladimir Vizdoaga from the post of district head, the Communist Party told a news conference Thursday. Vladimir Vizdoaga, who was elected to the post a year ago by the votes of the Communist group, two Democrats and one independent councilor, says the AIE councilors, with the Democrat group at the head, are challenging the legality of his election and intend to dismiss him with a simple majority instead of a supermajority required by law. In a petition signed by Gheorghe Rotaru, the leader of the Democrat group in the District Council, it is said that Vizdoaga's election was possible after two former Democrat councilors had been bought and offered the seats of deputy district heads. Rotaru says that one of them already recognized this in court, which justifies the request to revoke Vizdoaga's headship. According to the Communist Party, similar cases have been registered in other districts as well, in particular in Donduseni. Communist Secretary Iurie Muntean said the party will take measures to put an end to these “violations”. One of such measures would be to hold local referenda to impeach mayors and local administrations.
