The Communist and Christian-Democratic members of Parliament rejected a proposal by MP Vlad Filat Thursday that the Parliament adopts a message to the CIS premiers summit in about the withdrawal of the Russian army from Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The presence of the Russian army is a very grave problem,” said Vlad Filat, the president of the Liberal-Democratic Party. He has proposed that the Parliament profits from the CIS summit in Chisinau on Friday to demand the retreat of the Russian troops and armament from Moldova's soil. Filat has asked the Parliament to ask the CIS prime-ministers to insert the issue on their order of the day, to discuss it and to make a decision as to the pullback of the Russian forces from Moldova. Vlad Filat's move has been backed by other opposition MPs, but was culled by the Communists and the Christian-Democrats, as the latter ones did not reason their vote. Opposition MPs have also expressed anger at the police's safety measures in Chisinau. Vitalia Pavlicenco, the leader of the National-Liberal Party, has said leaders of political parties were called by the General Prosecutor's Office in connection with the summit and were asked to sign a commitment about not organizing protest actions. Democratic Party leader Dumitru Diacov has said nobody could move because half of Chisinau was studded with police. “Are we a country of Papuans or terrorists? Do we expect the Kyrgyzstani president to throw a bomb? What's the use of blocking the city's entire downtown?” Diacov asked. “I understand safety measures are needed, but how comes the deputies cannot reach the Parliament?” asked MP Anatol Taranu. “Are we under some siege?” The Communist MP Iurie Stoicov replied the police acts in accordance with the law. The CIS summit of heads of Governments takes place in Chisinau on November 13-14. The Interior Ministry announced the traffic would be restricted in the downtown. So did the airport by announcing some flights would be delayed.
