Five lots of commercial spaces at the Chisinau International Airport, out of the 13 put up for a tender contest, were assigned. These are "rent a car" lots and the prices at which they will be leased out exceed three times the currently collected charges, IPN reports.
The Chisinau International Airport said that two lots are to be republished on March 21.
For six other lots, for which only one participant was qualified, it was decided to extend the deadline for submitting applications for participation. The new deadline is March 28. Applications can be presented at the Airport Building, at 80/3 Dacia Blvd in Chisinau, daily, between 08:00 a.m. and 05:00 p.m.
The Chisinau International Airport was transferred under state management two years ago, after for 10 years it had been managed by Avia Invest SRL. The concession agreement was denounced on the grounds that the concessionaire did not honor its investment obligations. Recently, the authorities announced that they decided to no longer hold tender contests to lease out spaces intended for public catering as the previous contests didn’t produce results. Consequently, the respective spaces are managed independently by the Chisinau International Airport.
