Civic Fest 2014 will be a more optimistic and motivating event than the previous edition as the people now realize and appreciate more the role and activity of the NGOs, specialist in communication Ludmila Andronic, who heads the Press Council, said in an interview published on the information portal civic.md, quoted by IPN.

“Civic Fest is an event showing the people that where there are many the power increases. It can given an incentive to those who feel that they can become involved in the social life, but do not know how to start,” said Ludmila Andronic. She underlined the importance of the free discussion sessions held within the event, where the participants will be able to find partners, backers and supporters, to share their experience and to get an advice.

The Press Council head also spoke about the corporate social responsibility (CSR) of Moldovan companies, saying only some of them included the CSR in their strategies, while others ignore this conception. “Any company, besides the multiple economic functions, has also social functions. We are part of an eco-system called civilization. We use resources, create goods, but should also realize that the resources are not inexhaustible, while the goods created by us are for the people. So, they must also have ethical characteristics,” said Ludmila Andronic.

Sustainability was the priority in the CSR area this year. Ludmila Andronic gave the example of the company Efes Moldova, which is known for its social responsibility activities. The great projects are related to the localization of barley production, which open new prospects for Moldovan farmers, and the launch of the wastewater treatment station that allows cleaning the water above standard norms.

Civic Fest Moldova is a platform for public involvement, voluntary civic and responsible behavior that aims to bring together the most active and successful NGOs from Moldova and Europe by debates, artistic, cultural and social activities. The project is implemented by the public association Synergetica Eur/Est with the support of East Europe Foundation with the resources provided by the Government of Sweden through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark/DANIDA and the Austrian foundation ERSTE. This year the event will take place on September 24-26.
