The company Apă-Canal Chișinău requested the National Agency for Energy Regulation to adjust the water charges. The information was confirmed by the deputy mayor of Chisinau Irina Gutnic at the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, IPN reports.
According to Irina Gutnic, due to the rise in electricity charges, Apă-Canal Chișinău has a deficit of 140 million lei. Therefore, it asked for a rise in water charges.
The deputy mayor said that, despite the given deficit, the situation is kept under control and the company’s bankruptcy is out of the question.
"The financial indicators are positive and we, after saving by reducing particular expenses, manage to cover this deficit. But an increase in charges is needed to overcome this situation," said Irina Gutnic, former director of the company.
Last week, municipal councilor Alexandr Odintsov, who is a member of the Board of Directors of Apă-Canal Chișinău, said that the water supplier was drafting a request addressed to the National Agency for Energy Regulation, but representatives of the City Hall did not confirm the information.
