Citizens will actively participate in decision-making process through eDemocracy platform

The citizens will have the opportunity to actively participate in the decision-making process through various digital tools, such as e-petitions, surveys and assessments of public services and service providers. The Cabinet approved the concept of the platform for supporting participatory democracy e-Democracy. The platform will allow civic initiatives and collective petitions to be consulted and signed safely and easily by citizens with a significant online presence, both inside the country and in the diaspora, IPN reports.

One of the digital services of the platform – e-Petition – will offer citizens the opportunity to submit electronic petitions addressed to public authorities and institutions in the Republic of Moldova. Through e-Feedback, users will be able to assess the quality of public services. e-Survey will provide a digital survey tool that will facilitate the process of consultation, research, communication and citizen involvement, accelerating the implementation of ideas, civic initiatives and socially important projects, secretary of state at the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization Cătălina Plinschi, stated in the Cabinet’s meeting.

The official noted that the active participation of citizens in decision-making processes is a basic principle in the European Union countries and contributes to strengthening democracy and transparency of public decisions.

The public institution E-Government Agency was designated as the owner and holder of the platform for supporting participatory democracy and it will ensure its implementation. The platform will be integrated with the EVO government electronic services application to simplify functionality and improve user experience.
