All electrical lighting installations, especially those that are to be used in particularly dangerous conditions, must be set up only by authorized electrotechnical personnel, who possess knowledge in the field and who must take into account the normative requirements. The clarification was made by the National Agency for Energy Regulation in connection with the use by citizens of decorative lighting during the winter holidays, IPN reports.

The Agency noted that the string lights must be purchased in specialized stores. Before arranging them, the buyers must familiarize themselves with the manufacturer's instructions for garlands or decorative lighting fixtures specified in the user sheets. It is necessary to check the voltage at which the electrical receivers purchased in another country work and it is forbidden to leave garlands connected to the electrical network unattended for long periods.

It is also prohibited to use damaged garlands or lighting fixtures, handcrafted from other materials, as well as to place garlands or electrical conductors on wet surfaces. The normative and technical documents in the field restrict the placement of electrical conductors directly on the ground or on combustible materials, the arrangement, connection or repair of decorative lighting installations, but also the use of electrical conductors or other equipment with damaged insulation or non-insulated connectors.

The list of authorized electricians can be accessed on the Agency’s website.
