The grand arena of the Chisinau Circus will host a performance of music inspired by William Shakespeare’s comedy “A summer night’s dream” starting at 2pm on September 10. This will be staged by the Children’s Theater. A part of the proceeds from ticket sales will be allocated for repairing the building, IPN reports.
Forty children-actors aged between 5 and 16 will sing, dance and do acrobatics. The music will be performed live by characters from the play, accompanied by a children’s orchestra. A light show will be staged throughout the play.
Soloist of the band “Gandul Matei” Nicu Tarna told a news conference that the performance is organized within the social initiative #LumineazaCircul that was launched by the band in spring. The involvement of children in such events is a novelty.
Andrei Chistol, secretary of state at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, said the idea was launched in spring and is now continued by a project that centers on children’s theater and this deserves to be supported. “I hope one day we will be able to speak about a larger project that will feature the theater of Chisinau,” he stated.
“The children will be those who will create the atmosphere of a dramatic play. It is a summer night’s dream and a dream of a child who dreams to come to a place where miracles are worked,” said one of the founders of the Children’s Theater Alexandru Dicusar.
Tickets are on sale, including online, and cost 50 lei.
