A policeman from Cimislia will stand trial on charges of passive corruption and forging of public documents. The prosecutors demand sentencing him to 6 years and 6 month in jail and fining him up to 30,000 lei, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the Prosecutor General’s Office, in January 2011 the police officer asked and received 4,000 lei from three persons for not holding them accountable for ill-treating a local man. Despite his promises, he drew up reports in the absence of the culprits and forged their signatures.
The officer is also accused of asking for 2,000 lei from a man for not holding him administratively accountable for driving under the influence at the end of 2011.
The sentence will be pronounced at the Cimislia district court on November 7.
