The Cimișlia District Council bought a waste tanker that will join the fleet of the municipal utility company Servcom Cimișlia. The purchase was made possible thanks to a $98,157 grant provided by the Government of Japan under the Kusanone Program.
According to a press release from the Embassy of Japan, the project aims to expand the public services provided in the district, in particular disposal of liquid waste and sources of groundwater pollution.
Ambassador Yamada Yoichiro stated that the new suction truck will make it possible to collect liquid waste to be disposed of at the two wastewater treatment facilities in the district: in the city of Cimișlia and the village of Ecaterinovca. More than fifty-five public institutions, such as municipal offices, schools, and also more than a thousand households, will benefit from this centralized treatment system, which will cover more than 90% of the district’s population.
The ambassador noted that “belonging to the European family will not only bring long-term economic prosperity to Moldova, but will also ensure its peace”. “Accession will mean protection against threats in many ways. I wish you success in achieving this goal for yourselves and for the future of this country”, declared Yamada Yoichiro.
The human security grant program Kusanone was launched in Moldova in 2008. To date, Japan has provided $7.3 million in grant funding for 88 projects in the fields of education, health care and public utilities.
