Police seized 20,000 packs of cigarettes from a Romanian citizen. The cigarettes were identified in the man's luggage at Chisinau International Airport and later confiscated by British authorities at Luton Airport, IPN reports.
The cigarette batch was detected on March 16 during baggage screening on the Istanbul-Chișinău-London route at Chisinau International Airport. The information was forwarded to the UK liaison officer in Bucharest, following international procedures.
Based on the information provided by Moldova's border police, British authorities conducted a thorough inspection upon the aircraft's landing at Luton Airport and confiscated the 20,000 packs of cigarettes.
