At the end of the Holy Week, on Sunday morning, defeating death, Jesus Christ revives, showing everyone, and to those who believed in Him and to those who did not follow Him and betrayed Him that he is the true Son of God. On Sunday orthodox Christians celebrate this miracle – the Easter.
"Faith in revived Jesus Christ transformed the demoralized refugees into a group of persons convinced of their invincibility,” - Mircea Eliade said, referring to the event happened between the years 29 and 33 AD.
Cultural counselor of the Mitropoly of Bassarabia, parochial of the church “Sfanta Teodora de la Sihla”, priest Ioan Ciuntu says that the miracle was noted first of all by Maria Magdalena and the prudes who come on that Sunday morning to Jesus’ grave, and found it empty and the rock removed. Roman soldiers who supervised Christ’s grave were surprised, swearing that no one has visited the grave, but the huge rock at the entrance was removed.
In order not to spread the rumor about the body’s disappearance, the guards advised the women to say that His apprentices stole Jesus’ body. But the truth was found out, being known by everyone, who, after this miracle of revival, became an adept of Jesus, Ioan Ciuntu noted, that the Holy Bible says that He will accept everyone as he did with the thief on the cross next to Him, if they recognize the bad things they had done and beg forgiveness.
On Easter morning, all those 1,500 churches of Moldova will organize Easter liturgies. The priests will bless the traditional Easter cake, the red eggs, the wine and the food brought by Christians to the church who will afterwards have a special meal with their families, putting an end to the Easter fast.
