Chisinau will be supported in its European path by Lubuskie Province

The Partnership Convention between Chisinau and Lubuskie, Poland, came into force after Chisinau interim mayor Veaceslav Iordan and Sebastian Ciemnoczlowski, the province’s representative, have signed it. This information was made public during the City Hall meeting, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Polish delegation has come to the meeting of the City Hall to inform municipal councillors about the project of collaboration between the Moldovan and the Polish parties, about the desire to share the specific experience and about the use of financial resources offered by EU. Lubuskie is ready to offer the needed information and consultancy in order to attract more European funds for implementing the projects resulted from the good neighbourhood policy. The Polish official said that the signing of the Convention sets ground for the development of relations between our administrations. After signing the Convention in 2006 the parties shared their experience in several domains like economy, social and cultural life. At the same time, the Polish part is helping Chisinau get more foreign investments and European funds, including financing the reconstruction of the wastewater treatment plant. According to Henryk Mariej Wozniak, although the province has a population of only 1 mln citizens it attracted more than EUR 1 bln of investments in a 2.5-3 year term. The Polish guests specified that the amount of European funds for Chisinau is about EUR 215 mln and Lubuskie is eager to help us even at designing mutual projects. The Convention aims at business collaboration, sharing experience in various domains of local public administration, attracting resources from EU funds and foreign investments, as well as improving the economic activity of enterprises in the municipality. The first partnership agreement between Chisinau and Lubuskie was signed in autumn 2006, coming in force on Thursday, the 15t of March, according to Polish legislative norms.
