Vaccination units in Chisinau, all 70 of them, will operate as usual throughout the holiday period during August 27-31, Mayor Ion Ceban told the City Hall’s meeting on Monday.

The vaccination units have been restocked with a wide variety of coronavirus vaccines.

On August 26, 27 and 31, vaccination trolleybuses will station in the Great National Assembly Square, plus a vaccination bus on the pedestrian street Eugen Doga. Also, volunteers will give out masks to members of the public in busy areas.

The coronavirus situation remains alarming, says the mayor. If the trend persists, the Economic Investment Forum planned in October will be postponed until next spring.

The Covid Center remains the only municipal medical institution where coronavirus patients are hospitalized; 200 beds out of 320 have been activated. The capacity of the intensive care unit has been supplemented; 21 of its current 24 beds are now occupied by patients with severe or critical forms.

Chisinau’s deputy chief health officer Dr. Boris Gîlca said an extensive control and response plan has been finalized and submitted to the municipal Extraordinary Commission on Public Health for adoption at its next meeting.

Dr. Boris Gîlca also asked the help of the Ministry of Interior with monitoring the observance of coronavirus rules in Chisinau.
