An International Health Tourism Forum with invitees from over 20 countries who want to know the medical offer in Moldova will be staged in Chisinau during September 15 – 16. Elena Stepanov, executive director of the National Inbound and Domestic Tourism Association of Moldova, told a news conference that health tourism in Moldova has become more popular the last few years. 30% of the tourists who visit Moldova do it to benefit from services of a high quality in clinics and health resorts in Moldova, IPN reports.

The National Inbound and Domestic Tourism Association and the Health Tourism Association of Moldova on Thursday signed a memorandum of cooperation which is aimed at promoting Moldova as an attractive destination for persons who come to the country for rehabilitation, recreation and health tourism purposes. Elena Stepanov said the doctors in Moldova are highly qualified and provide high quality services at more accessible prices than in tourists’ countries of origin. National healthcare is developed and doctors here speak several languages. Tour operators not only include health tourism in their travel packages, but also try to extend the stay of tourists in Moldova for a longer period of time.

Victoria Bucătaru, executive director of the Health Tourism Association of Moldova, said the Association combined forces with the National Inbound and Domestic Tourism Association so that the inbound and domestic tourism offer is supplemented with the health tourism offer and the country offer is known as a single offer, with more complex tourism services. The forum of September 15-16 will focus on all the health services of a high quality provided in Moldova. There will be presented the innovations in healthcare, the special offers in plastic surgery, dentistry and all the sectors that make an important contribution to health tourism.

The International Health Tourism Forum of Moldova will involve private medical institutions of Moldova and professors, scientists, doctors and managers of medical institutions from over 20 countries. The event aims to explore the capacities of private clinics and hospitals in Moldova, which are the pillars of the local health tourism.
