The tenth International Poetry Festival “Grigore Vieru” will take place in Chisinau and in Iasi on May 14 and 15, organized by the Cultural-Scientific Center “Grigore Vieru” and a number of partners. The first day of the festival will end with an Awards Gala at the National Puppet Theater “Licurici”, starting at 6pm, IPN reports.
Flowers at the bust of poet Grigore Vieru on the Alley of Classical Writers in Chisinau will be laid at 10am on May 14. There will be held a recital of poetry and music entitled “I’m grass and cannot be simpler”, staged by the Lyceum of Creativity and Inventions “Prometeu-Prim”. The same day, the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” will mount a book exhibition entitled “Poet of Language Fortress” and a literary-artistic performance at 2:30pm.
The event will continue on May 15 in the Small Hall of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, which will host the scientific symposium “Grigore Vieru, man of morning” starting at 10:30am. At 1pm, a literary-artistic performance will be staged near the Monumental Complex “Writers of the Union” in Truseni, at 1pm. This is organized by the Chisinau Branch of the Cultural League for the Unity of Romanians Everywhere.
At midday on May 15, the Council Hall of the Iasi Mayor’s Office will host the official opening of the Festival in Iasi, the conference “Grigore Vieru, poet and tribune of Romanian space” staged by literary critic and historian Ion Pop and a recital of music based on poems nu Grigore Vieru given by the Vocal Group of the Chisinau Lyceum “Prometeu-Prim”.
The same day, starting at 3:30, students from Moldova and from Iasi will give a joint performance of music and poetry entitled “Your name” at the Children’s Palace in Iasi. Those who love Grigore Vieru’s works can see the performance “Fire root” in the Concert Hall “Radu Beligan” of the Tatarasti Athenaeum starting at 5pm. This will include a recital of patriotic songs presented by the Great Union Choir of Iasi.
On the last day of the Festival, flowers will be laid at the bust of poet Grigore Vieru in the Copou Park at 10am. Starting at midday, the SINAXAR Hall of the Iasi Metropolitan Museum will host cultural dialogues and conferences entitled “Grigore Vieru – poet, teacher, tribune” that will involve notable personalities of the Romanian culture.
The first International Poetry Festival “Grigore Vieru” was held in 2009, during October 9 - 12.
