To avoid being late for work or when taking the children to the kindergarten, the citizens of Chisinau are strongly advised to go out of the house earlier. The inhabitants who use minibuses are urged to use the trolleybuses or buses within possibilities. The appeal was made by the Chisinau City Hall in connection with the protest announced by carriers that manage municipal minibus routes until 10am, IPN reports.

The citizens who live in areas where minibuses run on routers and have private vehicles are asked to give rides to mates, friends, relatives to the center of Chisinau or to the closest stations.

The local public authorities will take a series of actions to provide public transport in the affected areas and quarters. The number of trolleybuses and buses will be supplemented on the most crowded sectors where minibus routes are operated. The frequency of buses and trolleybuses on routes will be increased.

In this connection, Mayor General of Chisinau Ion Ceban said the municipality’s conditions for the private carries remained the same. The carriers should have new contracts for the provision of services with the municipality, should establish the vehicle-km cost, should create better conditions in public transport, should respect the contractual conditions, should accept electronic ticketing and the common electronic ticket. The Chisinau City Hall cannot accept to raise minibus fares until these conditions are not met.

The minibuses running on routes in Chisinau will not work until 10am on February 24. The carriers that manage minibus routes in the capital city announced a protest following the reactions of the mayor general and deputy mayors of Chisinau to carriers’ demands. According to the chairman of the Board of the Employers Association of Motor Transport Operators Oleg Alexa, no route will be operated in the morning. The drivers will resume work after 10am.
