Many Chisinau residents were put today in a bad mood walking long distances or clogging into crowds along streets flanked with police officers after traffic was restricted in parts of Chisinau along the route of US Vice President Joe Biden's official procession.
Some tried to negotiate passage with the police officers, explaining them their routes and destinations, but the policemen could only shrug: “This is not our whim to prevent pedestrians from passing, this is just a order which we should patiently follow until the procession passes”.
Angered, some elderly women blamed the “democrats who don't care about people's interests, but only about functions and money”.
Elsewhere in Chisinau, Joe Biden's motorcade was treated to a warm welcome, as thousands of people lined the streets waving Moldovan and US flags. People also gathered in the Opera Square to hear Joe Biden's public speech in support of Moldova's democratic reforms.
