Chisinau residents can obtain financing for projects to deal with local problems

The residents of Chisinau municipality can submit projects to solve problems faced in the city for being financed through a new mechanism called civil budgeting. In the budgetary year 2017, the small projects will have an implementation value of 10,000 to 30,000 lei, while the large projects of 30,000 to 150,000 lei. A total of 1 million lei will be allocated for both types of projects, IPN reports.

In the ordinary meeting of officials of Chisinau services, Victor Lutenko, councilor of the group of the Electoral Bloc “European People’s Platform - Iurie Leanca”, said this year the projects should refer to nine areas. The citizens are invited to suggest solutions to problems that refer to the poor quality of roads and sidewalks, defective waste management, unpleasant aspect of the city, unauthorized constructions, problematic public transport, poor state of underground passages, lack of parking spaces, defective management of the issue of stray animals and the work of housing stock managers. For a small project, the initiator should collect 50 signatures from citizens, while for a large project 100 signatures.

Under the regulations approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council, the projects can be submitted between February 15 and March 15 of each year, but this year they will be presented during July 10 – August 1. The project proposals will be examined by a commission that includes by a representative of the Local Public Administration Division and the Public Relations Division. The municipal councilors can take part in the meeting of the working group and can state their opinions on the projects. The projects will be implemented by municipal subdivisions. The inhabitants of Chisinau can make contributions in co-financing.
