The two drivers working on the minibus routes No. 155 and 120 in Chisinau, who were involved in traffic accidents two weeks ago, will be investigated under arrest. The Chisinau Court of Appeals accepted the prosecutors’ request to modify the decisions of the Centru District Court, by which the drivers were placed under house arrest, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, both of the drivers are accused of violating traffic rules and of causing of serious bodily injuries or death. They face three to seven years in jail and will be banned from driving units of transport for a period of up to four years.
Two weeks ago, a minibus running on route No. 155 overturned after colliding with another vehicle. As a result of the collision, 11 persons traveling in the minibus, three of whom children, were admitted to the Emergency Hospital. Two days later, a girl aged five died after she was struck by a minibus running on route No. 120, near the South Bus Terminal in Chisinau.
