“I wish Moldova returns to normal in 2009,” stated Chisinau's mayor Dorin Chirtoaca at a news conference Wednesday. Totalizing the results of the City Hall's activity in 2008, he said the things would have been better in the capital, unless the central administration interfered into the City Hall's business, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“2008 showed that, despite all the obstacles purposely erected by our foes, who have lost their minds, in our opinion, Chisinau has gone and is going forward,” Dorin Chirtoaca said.
He has criticized the work of the second decision-making majority in the Council (CMC), formed by the factions of PCRM, PPCD and PSD. He says “it's for the first time when the city's budget for the next year is not adopted in the previous year” and adds that “the majority in the CMC voted against the investments for 2009.”
Referring to the priorities of 2009, the mayor highlighted the renovation of Valea Morilor Park, the direct cooperation with the European Union, building social dwellings, ending two houses for refugees, reforming Trolley Fleet 1 through a loan from the EBRD.
Chirtoaca has also thanked his political opponents from the local administration for “jointly running the affairs in Chisinau” and criticized them “for disregarding the voters' will.”
The mayor mentioned a number of activities accomplished in 2008, “despite the small budget.”
